Exam Results – 2017

DSTC GCSE

DSTC staff would like to congratulate all students in Year 11 on their exceptionally good results. We are delighted to see improved performance in almost all subjects this summer despite the increased rigour of the new specifications. The reformed GCSEs are harder than their predecessors. They contain more content and more papers and the bar has been set deliberately higher to achieve the new top grade 9.

67% of all students achieved a grade 4 or above in English and 60% in maths.

With over 90% of students entered gaining a 4 or above in Biology and Physics and 83% in Chemistry. In Computer Science the pass rate was 78%, in Media it was 70% and in Geography 68%.

In vocational subjects there was also much to celebrate with 88% gaining a merit or above in Health and Social Care, 75% in Dance and 73% in Business.

The Principal Mrs Davis said, “ We are delighted that so many girls have done well and deserve to be proud of their achievements. As a school we have improved our results from 2017 and are moving ever closer to becoming outstanding”.
