Course Content / what you will be learning.
This vocationally-focused GCE offers students more opportunities to actively experience the scientific environment through work experience, links with local employers, case studies and research. The course also offers students the chance to personalise their path of study and obtain a qualification that meets both their individual aptitudes and interests.

The Units are:

  • AS Applied Science has two coursework units: Science at Work and Analysis at Work.
  • The examination is on Monitoring the Activity of the Human Body.
  • A2 Applied Science has two coursework units: Synthesising Organic Chemistry and Investigating the Scientist’s Work. The examination in on Working Waves.

What are the entry requirements?
5 GCSEs grades A*-C must include Triple Science (A* to C) or Additional Science (A* to B) plus GCSE Maths (A*-C) and English (A*-C).

How is this course assessed?
AS Applied Science has two coursework units: Science at Work and Analysis at Work. The examination is on Monitoring the Activity of the Human Body.
A2 Applied Science has two coursework units: Synthesising Organic Chemistry and Investigating the Scientist’s Work. The examination in on Working Waves.
