Sports Teams and Clubs

Here at DSTC we run a number of after school after school clubs.  For a full list of clubs, please see below.  If you would like to join one of these, please get in contact with Miss Wilkinson. To download the PE extra-curricular clubs Timetable: PE extra-curricular clubs Timetable.

Club times: all open to every year group unless stated

  • Mondays
    Lunchtime: Year 8/ 10 – Badminton/ Basketball in the Sports Hall.
    After school: Trampolining, Football and Fencing.
  • Tuesday
    Lunchtime: Lunchtime: Year 9 – Badminton/ Basketball in the Sports Hall.
    After school: Archery and Netball.
  • Wednesday
    Lunchtime: Year 10 – Badminton/ Basketball in the Sports Hall.
    After school: Volleyball, Tennis and Basketball.
  • Thursday
    Lunchtime: Year 7 – Badminton/ Basketball in the Sports Hall.
    After school: Gymnastics and Fitness.
  • Friday
    After school: Roller Hockey, Hockey and Fitness.

Tennis – Tennis – A local club has been started up at DSTC and this club is a feeder to the evening club. Pupils can come along to try and improve their tennis skills, socialise or try and be more competitive.

Trampolining: – Pupils get the chance to be coached by a local coach in the basic skills and linking them into a routine. Pupils may have the opportunity to enter competitions if they progress well. The coach provides a link to the local club if the pupils wish to further their trampoline skills.

Hockey – Pupils have the chance to be coached by a local hockey coach, following the fantastic achievement by our Team GB women’s hockey team. The school enters an Essex and Kent competition and local tournaments throughout the season. The coach provides a link to a local club for pupils wishing to play more hockey.

Volleyball – The local club coaches set up their specialised equipment and teach the range of shots through skills and games. They provide a link to their club based at DSTC in the evenings.

Archery – The local club coaches set up their specialised equipment and teach the range of skills. They have individual bows for regular attenders They provide a link to their club based at DSTC in the evenings.

Gymnastics – The local club coach set up their specialised equipment and teach the range of skills such as vaulting, handstands, tumbling and cartwheels. They provide a link to their club based at DSTC in the evenings.

Fitness – Pupils are given the opportunity to work on the high quality fitness equipment to help tone muscles, burn calories and get the heart stronger. A very popular club for both KS3 and 4 pupils.

Dance – A variety of dance classes are run after school, Gifted and talented KS3 dance club, for students who are talented in dance and wish to perform in the school showcase. Cascade dance company, where we offer contemporary dance and performance club to our BTEC GCSE dance students, and finally Glee club challenge, where our students were successful this year in reaching the regional finals 2016 and are soon to audition for the 2017 Glee club challenge.

Netball – All years mix at training to learn new skills, teach each other, play games and get selected for borough matches. Last year we had three year 7 teams, a Year 8 and 10 team. The Year 10’s and Year 7’s were 2nd in the Borough tournament last year.

Cross Country – A new club this year to help pupils keep fit, learn about continuous training and practice for the annual events in Kent the school enters. The course is around the school grounds and pupils can run one or five laps, it is up to them to set their targets. The school have entered the national schools and Borough events this year due to the success of the club so far.

Football – All years mix together to learn new skills, challenge themselves, play small and full sided games. The school have entered more competitions this year so will be competing in both 5 and 11 a side competitions. The Year 7 and 8 football team were awarded with team of the year at Sports awards last year for their dedication to training and being third in the Borough league.

Roller Hockey – Gb coach Barry James comes in to coach the pupils in skating and hockey, bringing equipment for them to use. They get to improve skills and play games. There is a possibility of those who progress well to be asked to join our link club London Knightz as he is their coach.We hope to get some matches against other local schools over the year as well.
