Community Commitment

Dartford Science and Technology College already had a community policy and was delivering a range of courses via its college based Open Learning Centre.

The school’s overriding priority was the raising of achievement at KS3 through an effective Cross-phase co-operation. Therefore the college’s community bid was about financing a real dialogue between ourselves and our Primary Schools to ensure a maximum gain for all partners;

Cross-Phase collaboration in numeracy and literacy was needed

DSTC provided an Outreach teacher to look at Primary methodology and classroom organisation and the implementation of the National Numeracy Strategy at KS3. In so doing Dartford Science and Technology College was able to achieve our Basic Skills Award within 6 months.
