School Lunches & Lost Property

Dear Parent/Carer

School lunches:
We have had a huge increase in students coming to school with no lunch money or packed lunch. Previously in these circumstances we have provided students with a slip to purchase lunch from the canteen, this then has to be paid back to the school office. Due to the
increase and the lack of monies being paid back to the school, we have been forced to make some changes.

From now on students must inform their Pastoral Leader or the school office by break time if they have no lunch or money, we will then contact their parent/carer to bring their lunch money or packed lunch into school. In exceptional circumstances we will provide lunch for your daughter. She will be given a slip which will allow her to purchase a sandwich/roll/wrap and one piece of fruit only. This must be paid back to the school the following day.

Please can you encourage your daughter to regularly check her balance using the machines in school and advise you when her money is low. You can also keep a check on her funds
by logging into your Parent Pay account.

If you think you may be entitled to free school meals, please visit www.kent.qov.uk/education-and-children/schools/free-school-meals to check your eligibility and apply online, alternatively you can pick up a form from the school office.

Lost Property:
We have a large collection of lost property such as coats, uniform, PE kits and shoes. All of these items are unnamed. Please can you ask your daughter to come to the school office if she is missing any items. Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity on 2nd December 2016 or washed and used in the College as spare uniform/PE kit for those in need.

We will be sending out weekly emails to parents with a brief description of what has been handed into lost property, hopefully this will remind students to come and check if their item is there (they will need to give a specific description to collect the item). We will keep the items for 4 weeks, after then any unclaimed items will be donated to charity as we do not have the storage space to keep them.

Please can I ask that all items of uniform, including coats, are clearly marked with your daughter’s name, if the item is lost and found we can easily return to the rightful owner.

Thank you for your co-operation in these matters.

Yours sincerely
Mrs Anne Davis
