Jeans for Genes Day – Friday 21st September 2018

Dear Parents/Carers

Dartford Science and Technology College will be taking part in this year’s Jeans for Genes Day on Friday 21st September 2018.

Jeans for Genes Day raises money for Genetic Disorders UK, the charity that aims to transform the lives of children with genetic disorders. Funds raised provide vital care and support for thousands of children with genetic disorders.

Genetic disorders affect 1 in 25 children in the UK- that’s more than 30,000 babies born each year. Their associated health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children aged 14 and under.

Taking part in Jeans for Genes Day means we could all make a real difference to affected children’s lives by helping fund the care and support they really need.

Staff and students are invited to wear their jeans (no ripped jeans) & other own clothes on Friday 21st September to help Jeans for Genes Day reach its target of £2.5million. We’d like everyone to take part so please send your child into school on the day wearing their jeans or a denim piece of clothing and with a £1 donation.

Just a polite reminder about non-school uniform days, all students must be appropriately dressed – no bare shoulders, no bare midriffs and no short skirts or shorts. They also need usual equipment to learn as the day is like any other with respect to learning.

Yours faithfully
