September 2019

At the end of term we say goodbye to a number of teaching staff and wish them well in their new schools. Some have moved on following promotion and others to areas nearer their home.  We have replaced all of them with good quality subject-specialist teachers and expect our curriculum delivery to continue to grow from strength to strength.

Teaching staff leaving are (in alphabetical order) Miss Allen, Mr Christopher, Mrs Cooper,
Mrs Okagbare, Dr Osineye, Ms Steven, Mrs Warren and Ms Wilkinson.

Congratulations to Mrs Hall who will be Director of Learning for Maths, Mrs Girgenti who will be Acting Director of Learning for English and Media and Miss Whittaker who will be Acting Subject Lead for PE.

Raising Standards Leaders for the different year groups are now as follows:

  • Years 7 and 8              Mr Dix supported by the new Deputy RSL, Miss Bernarte
  • Years 9 and 10            Mrs Sheen supported by the new Deputy RSL, Mr Snipp
  • Year 11 and Post 16    Mrs Ijewere supported by the new Deputy RSL, Miss Chivers

The Pastoral Leaders remain as follows:

  • Years 7 and 8              Mrs Harrison
  • Years 9 and 10             Mrs Sutton
  • Year 11 and Post 16    Mrs Harvey

In addition to staff changes, we are moving lesson length from 6 sessions of 50 minutes to
5 sessions of 1 hour per day. The start and the end of the day will remain the same but the timing of break and lunch will change. From September these will be as follows:

  • Break will be from 10.40am until 11.00am.
  • Lunch will start at 1.00pm for Years 7, 8 and 9 and at 1.20pm for all other years.
  • Students will still have 40 minutes for lunch.

All of the changes have been undertaken to get the best possible efficiencies within the system and to improve provision.

All that is left for me to say is that I wish you a very happy, safe and enjoyable break and we look forward to seeing students when they return as follows:

  • Years 7 and 12 on Friday 30th August 2019
  • All other year groups on Monday 2nd September 2019

Yours sincerely
Mrs Anne Davis
